New Philippine Party Stands in Solidarity with the G20 Protestors
The Partido Lakas ng Masa (PLM), a new party of and for the masses in the Philippines, stands in solidarity with the demands and sentiments of those protesting in London outside the G20 summit.
“We not only understand their sentiments, we share their sentiments, as well as their anger against a system which has supported greedy and essentially corrupt bankers and financiers, who have raked millions and billions in profits at the expense of the working people and the poor. They have been so greedy and corrupt that they have undermined the very system that benefited them”, said Sonny Melencio, Chairperson of Partido Lakas ng Masa.
“We also note the huge protests over the last few months in France, where millions of working people joined two general strikes in January and February. People in Europe have also brought down governments in Iceland and the Czech Republic. There is now a global movement against the policies of bank bailouts and even against the capitalist system. This movement represents the people against the bankers and their greed for profits. It’s essentially also about people saying, that we, the ordinary people, shouldn’t have to pay for the crisis of the system.”
“In the coming months, we too will be mobilising the working people, those retrenched, the students and other sectors of the poor against the bogus stimulus package of the GMA regime, against layoffs and the government’s attempts to make the poor pay for the crisis. We will also be carrying this message for the 2010 elections and will be running candidates at all levels, local to national, as a part of a Third Force alternative against trapo and elite rule and for system change.”
Not a centavo to the banks!
Funds for retrenched workers and the unemployed!
A stimulus package to save and create jobs!
